"RUOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHH!!!!!!" Renji swung his Zanpakuto back gathering all his strength into his arms then thrust forward, bringing his gleaming sword down on the hollow "I missed! Izuru, its coming your way!!"
"I got it!" Kira quickly shot out a mid-level kido at the hollow's mask, blowing it into smithereens. It soon evaporated into thin air "That was some good teamwork" he commended.
Renji scratched his head with his middle finger "Nah, by myself I would have got it much better. That aside, these petty jobs are getting pretty annoying. Why can't they send the other lieutenants on patrol?"
Izuru shrugged "I guess they're trying to teach us to take more responsibility. I actually don't mind it too much." he replied, their slippers crunching on the gravel path as they walked on "We should go catch up with Hinamori now".
Meanwhile, many streets over and across the bridge, Momo was on her last round of the day. "I think that's it" she thought to herself as she brought her soul-pager out to double-check "Yep, I'm done here. All Soul-Funerals in this area taken care of." just as she put the nifty device away something caught her eye. Someone was standing alone on the bridge. she quickly ran over to investigate. It was a boy child looking blankly ahead, he was so focused that he didn't even seem to notice Momo approaching. She quickly punched the buttons on her pager and logged onto the 'To-Do' app "But... There aren't meant to be any more souls left within this district. Hey, little kid," she addressed the boy to which he looked up sharply. He looked very strange, with unique coloured eyes and dark wavy hair. "What are you doing here? Are you alone?"
He nodded somewhat solemnly "I'm alone."
"I see. Don't worry, you'll soon be at peace- on the other side." She unsheathed her Zanpakuto in one swift motion then began the passing-over process.
The boy quickly tripped back, but questioned her motive in an unusually calm and collected tone for a child "What are you doing?"
"A Konso, it's my job to let wandering souls such as yourself to move on. You needn't fear, it's not painful."
He blinked a few times then nodded "I see. I don't think I can do that right now."
"I must insist" Momo persisted taking a step closer. If she left him on his own a hollow was sure to attack- her instincts told her he was no ordinary soul. Perhaps he had some spiritual energy- either way it was dangerous. "It's for the greater good." She smiled in an attempt to assure him.
"No thank-you."
"W-WAIT! Y-you have to, you have no choice. Come along and be good, if your dead you have no choice but to accept your fate." She grabbed him and tried to get a good aim of his forehead
"AAAAAAAHH! stop it! let go of me, this is violation! I know my constitutional rights!"
"You leave me no choice, now hold still!!!" She contemplated using a Bakudo to hold him down, it might have been easier.
"Hey! Momo!," Renji yelled as they rushed upto her "What are you doing?"
"I need to preform a Konso on this soul but he's insistent that he doesn't want to go!" She complained
Renji squatted down so he was at the boy's level "Listen kid, it's not a matter of if you want to go, you have to. Dems da rules." He explained somewhat harshly.
"See? even the big friendly giant says its better for you!" Momo attempted to send him off once more but failed as he hopped nimbly to the side.
Izuru pondered as the events played before him, then he interrupted suddenly "Wait Hinamori. There's only so much a normal soul will struggle- if this boy is so unwilling to comply, I am afeared he must have some good reasons," Momo and Renji looked up "let's hear them" he finished.

Renji folded his arms impatiently "so lets hear it then, whats up your a-"
"-he means whats bothering you?!" Momo interrupted
"Well...."
Izuru nodded encouragingly "go on, we're here to help you."
The soul looked around unsure "...Okay then. You see, my school is having a charity bazaar tomorrow, to help children in Syria. The year above me students raised a lot of money, so my class's goal was to beat that. I was so excited about it. I was even going to bake things for them to sell, I was going to make millions, literally billions to give to charity. My Mummy gave me some money to spend there too," he pulled out a small wallet and popped it open, revealing two bronze coins and a silver one "I really want to go." he finished sadly, looking at his feet as he tried his best to blink back some tears but to no avail.
The Soul-Reapers listened in silence.  Momo quickly whipped out her favourite hanky with pear-print on it and offered it to the child "Hey, don't cry. You did your best and that's what matters. The bazaar will still go on, your class will still raise all the funds they were intending on."
The soul sniffled "But still.... I really reeally wanted to go" he began sobbing whole-heartedly, tears sloshing onto the coins.
"So what do you want to do?"
"I want to go-hohohowaaaaeeeuooo" he cried squeezing his eyes shut.
Izuru thought for a moment "Then, you should go!" he yelled enthusiastically
"What?" Renji and Momo asked in unison
"H-he should go, is what I said! This bazaar is for a great cause, just look at this child all distraught- and for what? Because he's thinking of others in need, how can we refuse him?"
"But, he's dead...."
"Who cares!?"
The boy suddenly jumped up "you mean I can still go? Will you take me?"
Izuru smiled "Yes, we can. You just need to tell us where it is located and what time tomorrow, and I'll take you."
"Yaayyy!!!!!"
Renji exhaled "I guess it can't be helped. What's your name kid?"
"Ichimoku Gin."
Lieutenant Kira froze "G-gin??"
The boy nodded "Yes."
"G-g-g-g-Gin!?" his shoulders started trembling dramatically at the remembrance of his captain.
"So that's sorted then." Momo put her sword away finally
"WAIT! We need to bring something to sell at the bazaar still" Ichimoku suddenly lit up with child-like aspiration.
Renji's eyes widened "HAAAH? We need to take something too!? Like what?"
"Hmmm. Like cakes and biscuits!"
"There are some shops close by..." Izuru looked around
Momo tutted "Are you crazy? You cant just take shop-bought goods!"
"She's right! LET'S ALL MAKE LOTS AND LOT OF CAKES FRESHLY HOME-BAKED!!!!!!!!"
"WHAAAAAAAUUUT!? I can't cook!" Renji protested, not wanting to get his hands dirty
The boy laughed "It's not about whether you can cook or not, it's all about the heart! if you cook from your heart it'll be good no matter what!"
And with that they got cracking with the task at hand, first dropping by the local supermarket to pick up some ingredients then making their final stop at Ichigo's. They quickly explained the story and he agreed without griping for a change. Infact he was all for it.
"I love this! we should all muck in as a matter of fact!" He quickly wrote a text saying to come over and 'bake, bake, bake, 2 raise mney for kids in need at my house~' and sent it to all.
Keigo was unfortunately out of town for an anime-expo which his sister bought tickets for so couldn't make it, but Orihime swiftly replied with a 'OF COURSE! Rukia is at my house aswell, we'll be over in a giffy! =)'
Chad answered shortly after too 'love it. I'm on my way *thumbs up* =D =D :P C)=D ^_o T_T ORZ 0///0'
Uryu however was a little more cautious 'Has someone jacked your phone?'
'No, why the sudden insecurities?' Ichigo quickly text back.
Tatsuki was already in the vicinity and was fast to arrive.
When everyone had gathered the story so-far was explained and then they decided on what they were going to make and googled recipes for them.
After much hard work and decoration they stared proudly at the assortment of vanilla and lemon cupcakes, brownies, and smarty-cookies. "They look great!" Tatsuki picked up the tray, but tripped on Izuru's foot as she walked by, crashing to the floor and making the contents in the tray spill out.
"NOOOOO!!" they cried. the cakes were squashed, and the brownies already had hair and other bits stuck to it "Dammit! I told Yuzu to mop today!" Ichigo cried.
"What difference would it make? We cant give them food that's been on the floor to sell either way." Momo knelt down sadly picking the cookies up and tossing them back into the tray.
"I'm so sorry!" Tatsuki helped with the cleaning up "I'm so, soo sorry!! I completely didn't mean to trip." she blinked back a tear.
Renji puts his hands on his cheeks and stared in silence.
There was a light sniffy noise, then Ichimoku began bawling "AEEEUUUUhehehehehuuuahahaaauuuuuwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!"
"D-don't cry, it was an accident. It couldn't be helped" Orihime comforted
"Yeah, you can still go to the bazaar tomorrow like you wanted."
He shook his head "But we had to give something too!" he sobbed
"You can still buy something from there with the money you were saving, it'd go to charity."
"It's not the saaaaaaaaame uhuhuuwaaa"
Momo settled him down on the sofa "It's okay-"
"No it's noooooooooooooooottttttttttt!!!!! waaaa"
"Why not?"
"B-because!!!"
"Why is it so important?"
He blew his nose into a Kleenix tissue "Because I want to help!"
Ichigo patted his shoulder "You are helping, just by going your showing your support, you know?"
"But it's not enough! I don't just want to give two little coins!"
Chad sat down "You should never belittle any charity, no matter how big or small."
"I know but still...."
Tatsuki stood sadly next to the bin where she toss the inedible goods away "If you know that then why are you so sad?"
Ichimoku gave a little strained whimper "....When the Tsunami happened in Japan four years ago," he began "I had a friend in Syria who was there for me, even though we were countries apart. Things were still rough for them, even then. But he and his family donated lots and lots for us, even though they didn't have the means."
Renji kind of knew how the boy felt, it reminded him of how Rukia gave and gave, while she herself was only a child and poor on the streets.
"We managed to get through because everyone was so generous- so I want to do the same! I want to give something back, help out the suffering and make someone smile too."
"My faith in humanity is restored" Uryu commented as the small soul finished.
Izuru placed a hand on the boy's shoulder "Just the intention will count. The fact that you've tried so hard, and care so much. Even if you give very little it, as long as you are sincere in your actions."
"Yeah," Lieutenant Abarai joined in "Someone could give a trench of gold, but if it was for selfish reasons it wouldn't be nearly as good."
Rukia smiled "For example, that flimsy Chappy key-ring you bought me, Renji. It may have been small but it means the world!"
"And dat dashing grin Ichigo flashed earlier!" Orihime joked
"You know you like it really!" Ichigo flattered himself
"You love that! Not with all the fillings and black gums"
"Shut up!!"
Tatsuki quickly chipped in "I love the Gucci shoes Orihime bought me!"
That is hardly an inspirational 'small things go a long way' example, but oh well Momo thought before adding her part "Captain Aizen's words always soothed my soul"
"I love Yuzu's cooking!" Ichigo chipped in
"I'm grateful for my nakama!" Izuru bellowed
Chad held up his pendant from his grandfather and felt it in his hands, agreeing with what everyone said.
"I love life!" Renji added
Everyone waited patiently for Uryu to have a go, but they were met with an awkward silence. "Aren't you grateful for anything you greedy mongrel!?" Renji cried in dismay
"I am! but It's quite personal, I'd rather not broadcast it."
"Well im personally grateful for-"
before they could finish Ichimoku held up a hand "Yes, yes, I understand the point your making."
"Well he certainly got some fiest" Orihime whispered to Rukia.
He now beamed assured "Thank-you everyone. I wont belittle any charity again!"
Everyone had a good time at the bazaar the next day, and Izuru filled with pride as Ichimoku happily popped open his pouch and placed the three coins carefully into the donation bucket (if you wanna get technical then Momo did it since as a ghost he wouldn't be able to and yadada).

It was now evening, and the time for Ichimoku had come. Bright orange from the sun reflected on the river, and the water rippled as colourful fish swam through joyfully.
"One last thing, before I go." he said.
"What is it?"
"How much money did they raise in the end??"
Momo smiled "167458 Yen (980 pounds approx (according to google))"
His face lit up brighter then ever before "That's so amazing isn't it? Oh thankyou so much for everything!!"
"It's no problem at all" She petted his soft hair then began the Konso.

Utututut!! You have such a great talent for writing stories, they always keep me hooked and on the edge of my seat - be they funny or serious. You really balanced a great plot along with your signature humor in this one! By far my favourite you boo-boo! I especially loved the texts they sent back and forth haha.
